Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis is an internationally recognized composer of operatic, symphonic, choral, and chamber works. He has won a Pulitzer Prize for his opera The Central Park Five. He is also known as a virtuoso performer, both as a solo pianist and as the leader of the ensemble Episteme. As a composer, Davis is most known for his operas. His opera X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X is considered one of the first American operas on a contemporary political subject. A new production of a revised version of the show was recently performed at Detroit Opera, Opera Omaha, Seattle Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera.
