About

Roy Cotton (b. 1983) is an accomplished orchestrator, producer and entrepreneur from Dallas, TX. He acquired a Bachelor of Science in music engineering technology from Hampton University. Roy started his musical studies at age fourteen when his father, Dr. Roy J. Cotton Sr, taught him the fundamentals of reading music, chord progressions, and being a professional musician. Currently he serves on the faculty of the Hampton Minister’s conference, the Black Leadership Conference of LifeWay, the Walter/Edwin Hawkins Music Symposium and the Gospel Heritage Praise and Worship Conference. He is the president/founder of The Shed Foundation (established in 2007), a non-profit corporation whose primary goal is to equip Christian Musicians for professional services. He is also the CEO of SoundShed LLC, a technology based company that introduces new tools, trends and technology to African American churches. 'Stems 4 Hymns' are SoundShed's revolutionary system, which preserves African American music history in the digital age. Roy has recorded and arranged for countless artists including Richard Smallwood, Tamela Mann, Jennifer Holiday, Earl Bynum, Karen Clark-Sheard, Myron Butler, Nicole C. Mullen, Bishop Paul S. Morton and the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Super Mass Choir and several others. Roy resides in Dallas, TX with his wife, Niya and three children, Roy “Rocco” Cotton, III, Eric Stone Cotton and Nyla Jade Cotton.
