About

Khyle Wooten, (b. 1988) a native of Philadelphia, PA, is a doctoral student in choral conducting at Florida State University. He has previously maintained posts with National Heritage Academies (Atlanta, GA), Clayton County Public Schools (College Park, GA), and the Walter D. Palmer School District (Philadelphia, PA) where he has led middle and high school choral ensembles. An active conductor and clinician, Wooten has led performances of the Haydn Stabat Mater and the Schubert Mass in G. He is the principal conductor of the Sankofa Recital Series in Atlanta, GA. Wooten has served as a worship leader, organist, and guest conductor for the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, the Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ and The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries. Among his recent accomplishments in composition is winning first prize in the composer division of the 2018 George Shirley Vocal Competition. Recent works include the song cycles, A Journey in Love, Three Songs of Audacity, and Sancta Maria for TTBB chorus. Wooten holds the Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the Lincoln University (PA), and the Master of Music degree in choral conducting from Georgia State University.
